These fabrics from Japan are designed to be washed after your garment is made. They are firstly dyed with reactive dyes & then over-dyed with the same colour pigment dye. When washed, the colour fades to give a worn-in, vintage look.  Although all care is taken, it can be harder to match/control the same colour for each dye lot, so there can be variations between dyelots.
